तर उनीहरु राजासंग भेटेर आयौं भन्थे । अहिले आएर हेर्दा मलाई लाग्छ, कतै उनीहरु निक्कै तलका मान्छे थिए की ? सायद –उनीहरु राजासंग सिधा सिधा कुरा गर्न सक्दैनथे ।
धेरै पटक उनीहरुले राजासंग भेट्नु प-यो भने । तर रामवहादुर थापा र मैले भेटौं पटक पटक प्रयास गर्दा समेत भेट पाएनौं । म राजालाई सन्देश पठाउथे – तपाई गद्धि छोड्नु होस् या त शक्ति छाड्नु होस् । दुई मध्ये एक त्याग्नुस् ।
नेपाली सेनाको सर्वोच्च कमाण्डर छोडेर सेनालाई निर्वाचित सरकारको मातहतमा ल्याउन सहयोग गर्नुहोस् । तपाईलाई हामी पाँच वर्षका लागि मुलुकको पहिलो निर्वाचित राष्ट्रपति वनाउला ।
राजतन्त्र अन्त्यको व्याख्या त्यो वेला गरिएको थिएन । तैपनी राजा हाम्रो प्रस्तावमा सहमत भएनन् । उनले शक्ति वा गद्धि छोडेको भए संवैधानीक राजतन्त्रलाई सेरेमोनियल स्वरुपमा राख्न सक्ने सम्भावना रहन सक्थ्यो ।
एक दुई घटना सुनाउ । जो मानिस मेरो सम्पर्कमा थिए । तिनीहरुसंग कुरा गरेर फाइदा भएन । कुनै निष्कर्ष निस्कला जस्तो लागेन । त्यस पछि मैले भने–तपाईहरुबाट काम होला जस्तो लागेन, मलाई सिधै राजासंग भेटाई दिनोस् । उनीहरु भन्थे –ल अव तपाई नै कुरा गर्नुस् हामी भेटको तारतम्य मिलाउछौं ।
ल मिलाउनुस् भन्थे म । उनीहरु भन्थे –भेट त भईहाल्छ । तर तपाईले एउटा टोपीको व्यवस्था चाँही गर्नु पर्छ है । राजालाई भेट्दा टोपी लगाई दिनु पर्छ । ति दिन मसंग नेपाली टोपी थिएन ।

यसरी हामीलाई गुमराहमा राखेका राखिए छ । हामीले त्यस्तो मानिससंग भेटि रहेछौं, जसको पहुँच राजाका परिवारिक सदस्यसंग मात्र रहेछ । राजासम्म तिनको पहुँच नै रहेन छ । उनीहरु भन्थे–तपाईको कुरा हामी सरकारमा जाहेर गरि रहेका छौ । सरकार माओवादी प्रति सकारात्मक होईवक्सन्छ ।
भेटाउछु भेटाउछु भने पनि उनीहरुले राजासंग कहिल्यै भेटाएनन् ।
राजाका मानिसहरुसंग टेलिफोनमा सम्वपर्क गराउथे । कुरा हुँदा हामी भन्थ्यो– राजा फाल्ने हो । उनीहरु भन्थे –राजा फाल्न सम्भव छैन ।
अन्तिममा ढोरपाटन शिकार आरक्षणमा राजा ज्ञानेन्द्र र प्रचण्डलाई भेटाउने भन्ने कुरा उनीहरुसंग भएको थियो । त्यसै आधारमा हाम्रो पार्टीले वक्तव्य निकाल्यो, अव नोकरसंग होइन, सिधै मालिकसंग वार्ता गर्ने हो, अर्थात सिधै राजासंग ।
यति हुदा समेत माओवादी भित्र राजासंग वार्ता गर्ने की दलहरुसंग भन्ने दुई मत थियो । अध्यक्ष प्रचण्ड एक पटक ज्ञानेन्द्रसंग कुरा गरौन त भन्ने पक्षमा हुनुहुन्थ्यो । रोल्पाको लावाङमा सम्पन्न बैठकवाट राजाका मान्छेसंग भेट्ने निर्णय पनि भयो । राजा वार्ता गर्न तयार छन् भन्ने सन्देशका आधारमै त्यो निर्णय भएको थियो ।
२०६१ माघ १७ र १८ गतेको कुरा हो । दलहरुसंग वार्ता गर्नु पर्छ भन्ने पक्षका नेता डा. वावुराम भट्टराईलाई पार्टीले करवाही पनि ग¥यो । त्यसको एक दिन पछि राजाले शेरवहादुर देउवा नेतृत्वको सरकार विघटन गरी कार्यकारी अधिकार आफ्नै हातमा लिएको घोषणा गरे । शुरुमा त हामीलाई संवोधन गर्न राजाले कु गरे भन्ने पनि थियो । तर शाही घोषणामा वाटो विराएका अपराधी भनेर माओवादीलाई संवोधन गरेपछि हामी झसंग भयौं । त्यो घटनाले राजासंग वार्ता गर्ने रणनीति हामीले त्याग्यौ र सात संसदवादी दलसंग मिल्ने निष्कर्षमा पुग्यौं । त्यति वेला राजाले कु नगरी हामीसंग वार्ता गरेको भए इतिहास अर्कै तिर जान सक्थ्यो । कुनै स्वरुपको राजतन्त्र रहनसक्थ्यो ।
राजासंगको वार्ता व्रेक भए पछि प्रचण्डले वावुराम माथिको कारवाही फुकुवा गर्नुभयो । राजालाई छोडेर दलहरुसंग वार्ता गर्ने वाटोमा पार्टी मोडियो ।
राजा दलहरुलाई पेलेर निरन्तर निरंकुशताको वाटोमा अघि वढे । प्रजातन्त्र र दलहरुलाई प्राथमिकता दिएनन् । राजाको नाममा विकृति विसंगति वढ्दै गयो । संसद विघटन, पार्टीलाई भित्तामा पु-याएर शक्ति आर्जन गर्ने राजाको चरम महत्वाकांक्षा, शाही कु, जनयुद्ध आदी कारणले २३८ वर्ष लामो राजतन्त्र सदाका लागि अन्त्य भयो ।

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear."
